Freelance World Vegan Day Secondary Education Resource Developer
Birmingham, West Midlands
The Vegan Society is seeking an experienced and creative education specialist to lead the development of a high-quality secondary school resource for World Vegan Day 2026. This is an exciting freelance opportunity to shape a nationally relevant classroom resource that supports teachers to explore ethical, environmental, and social justice themes through a curriculum-aligned and academically robust lens.
Working closely with our Education team and designer, you will create engaging and accessible materials for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 that encourage critical thinking, discussion, and learner voice across subjects such as PSHE, Citizenship, Geography, Science, and Food Technology. This project offers the chance to contribute to meaningful, values-led education while working flexibly on a clearly scoped and well-supported piece of work with real impact in schools.
Scope of Services and Deliverables:
The successful contractor will be responsible for delivering the following agreed outputs:
Lead the development of a comprehensive teaching resource for secondary schools, including presentations, differentiated lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, worksheets, assessment opportunities, and teacher guidance. Create curriculum-linked content that inspires critical thinking, encourages discussion, and supports a wide range of classroom activities while remaining accessible to schools with varying levels of technology.
Ensure materials meet teachers needs by providing clear learning outcomes, delivery guidance, and differentiation strategies. Integrate digital elements such as videos, case studies, and infographics to support learner engagement as appropriate.
Work collaboratively with The Vegan Society s Education team and graphic designer to ensure materials align with organisational guidance, design standards, and World Vegan Day or World Vegan Month branding.
Pilot materials with teachers and learners during April and May 2026, then revise content in line with feedback. Complete final edits in June 2026 and contribute to marketing and outreach to support school engagement.
The contractor will determine the method, schedule, and time commitment required to complete the work, provided agreed deadlines and deliverables are met.
General:
This role is offered strictly on a freelance, self-employed basis.
There is no obligation on The Vegan Society to offer further work, nor on the contractor to accept additional work.
The contractor will not be managed as a member of staff and will not be subject to internal policies beyond those necessary for legal, ethical, and reputational protection.
While delivering the project, the contractor will be expected to:
– Act in a professional manner as a representative of The Vegan Society when engaging externally on this project
– Comply with applicable data protection legislation, including GDPR, when handling any personal data
– Respect The Vegan Society s commitments to equality, diversity and inclusion
