Composable Commerce Architect – Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a global organisation as a Composable Commerce Architect on a Contract basis (INSIDE IR35) .As a Composable Commerce Architect would lead the design and implementation of flexible, modular, large-scale omnichannel eCommerce technology stacks on cloud platforms. This role will bridge business strategy and technical execution, leveraging Composable (MACH) Products, Cloud Infrastructure (preferably AWS), APIs, Microservices, and Headless commerce principles to craft optimal solutions across various channels.

The ideal candidate will have 20+ years of experience in the software industry, with deep expertise in Composable Commerce architectures, cloud-native design, and eCommerce platform migrations from monolithic to MACH-based architectures.

Skills:

• 20+ years of experience in the software industry, with 8-10 years in software architecture for web and mobile applications.
• 5+ years of deep expertise in Composable Commerce architectures and implementation.
• Proven experience migrating eCommerce applications from Monolithic to MACH-based Composable Architecture in the cloud (preferably AWS).
• Strong expertise in cloud-native design and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) (certifications preferred).
• Proficiency in modern Front End technologies, especially Next.js and React.
• Hands-on experience with MACH-compliant platforms and products ( Search & Discovery,Headless CMS, Product Information Management (PIM), Order Management Systems (OMS), Ecommerce Platforms
• Experience with API-first design, microservices architecture, and event-based solutions (Kafka, AWS Event Bridge, IBM Middleware).
• Expertise in cloud-native design, integrating cloud services, and ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Experience with API management solutions (Amazon API Gateway, IBM API Connect, MuleSoft, Azure API Management).
• Develop and implement a holistic eCommerce vision aligned with client goals, conducting market analysis, competitor research, and trend identification.
• Define Composable Commerce architecture, selecting and integrating “best-of-breed” solutions tailored to specific business requirements.
• Lead migration strategies for transitioning on-premise monolithic applications to Composable Architecture in the Cloud (preferably AWS).
• Create architectural blueprints with a focus on scalability, performance, and business alignment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, designers, product managers) to design and develop customized Composable Commerce solutions.
• Develop robust API strategies to ensure seamless communication between composable components.
• Research and assess emerging Composable Commerce technologies, providing recommendations for integration.
• Ensure Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) such as scalability, performance, and security are met across cloud tenants.
• Drive innovation in Composable Commerce offerings and optimize operational efficiency.
• Contribute to business proposals, including the review and response to RFPs.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, Quality Engineering, and monitoring tools (Dynatrace, AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray).
• Hands-on experience in securing APIs (OAuth, Certificates, API keys) and data encryption/tokenization.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies (SEO, SEM, email marketing).
• Excellent communication, analytical, and client-facing skills with the ability to provide strategic direction to business and IT teams.
