SHELTER
Do you have proven experience of leading multi-channel marketing activity for a retail business, ideally across high street and ecommerce and/or the charity retail sector? Then join Shelter as Senior Marketing Manager – Retail and you could soon be playing an important role at the heart of our Marketing team.
About Shelter
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.
We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.
About the team
Our Marketing team includes search, digital and social media specialists, brand managers and paid campaign strategy and delivery experts. Working closely with our creative, digital and insight teams, we support all areas of the organisation and work across all aspects of marketing, combining our expertise in engaging organic and paid audiences. It’s a particularly exciting time to join us right now as there’s a lot of change happening following the launch of our new brand which has re-positioned us and set the base for us to tackle what has grown from a housing crisis to a national emergency. This is your opportunity to be part of our future and make the most of your retail marketing expertise.
About the role
We run a network of around 90 community charity shops across Great Britain, from small boutiques to large furniture shops. Our online offer has seen rapid growth over the past two years, with significant turnover during the Christmas peak, success in the launch and promotion of new goods, and the launch of our secondhand online shop. This is planned to rapidly expand further in the coming months. Your challenge will be to manage the end-to-end marketing activity to drive income, volunteering enquiries and donations for our retail division.
Day-to-day, your main focus will be on planning and implementing highly effective digital marketing campaigns. However, you’ll also be responsible for line-managing a Marketing Manager and collaborating with the wider Marketing team, as well as our in-house Creative and Digital teams and colleagues in Retail. You will work particularly closely with the Retail Marketing Manager too. They’re responsible for in-store activity and wider partnership initiatives. Together, you’ll ensure that we have a coherent Retail marketing plan spanning our bricks and mortar shops and our online retail offering. And, when it comes to helping our Head of Ecommerce to shape and deliver ambitious growth plans for our ecommerce activity, again, we’ll count on you.
We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.
About you
To succeed, you’ll need hands-on experience of planning, building, implementing, optimising and evaluating high-profile marketing activity, primarily on digital channels. You’ll also need a proven ability to use audience insight to inform marketing strategy, content creation and targeting and significant experience of planning and commissioning creative content for digital channels. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are also required, as is an understanding of digital analytics tools and ecommerce KPIs. What’s more, you also have the written and verbal communication it takes to manage colleagues, stakeholder and agency relationships alike.
Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
