Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies
About RUSI Membership
RUSI is a well-established research institute and think tank, focusing on defence, security and geopolitics. RUSI offers both Individual and Corporate memberships, allowing exclusive member access to certain publications and events, and providing additional opportunities for members to engage directly with our research activities and staff. As an independent charity, income from membership directly supports the work and existence of the Institute, and growing membership income is a key strategic objective.
Main purpose of post
The Membership Marketing Executive will have two key priorities:
To actively manage a new, RUSI-wide initiative aimed at attracting the ‘Next Generation’ of young professionals (typically aged 20 to 30) to our work. Working with all parts of the Institute and external volunteer stakeholders, the jobholder will lead all aspects of growing a large community of young people interested in defence, security and global affairs
To develop and execute a membership marketing strategy to grow RUSI individual membership (attraction and retention) and support corporate membership marketing activities
The membership team is small and resources throughout the Institute are limited. We are looking for a hands-on Membership Marketing Executive with a can-do attitude, a talent for thinking creatively and building great relationships, and someone who will be able to bring self-starting energy to this exciting new role.

Develop creative promotional mechanics and offers to target specific groups
Support the overall evolution of membership propositions and new product development
Support corporate membership marketing activities and events
Develop and manage partnership opportunities that support the growth of RUSI membership
Represent RUSI at relevant external sales or engagement events
The above list of duties is not exhaustive. The post holder will be required to undertake such duties that may reasonably be expected within the scope and grade of the role.
