Job Description

Job Dimensions

The Marketing Director will report directly to the CEO.

The role will be based at the Thame office and will travel internationally as and when required.

Responsible for:

• Strategic market analysis
• Product Marketing
• Communications – internal and external
• Pricing
• Operational Marketing Support to Sales

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Marketing

• Develop insights into customers, competitors, legislation, and market dynamics to inform ongoing segment strategies development and execution
• Conduct strategic studies, analyses of market segment risks and opportunities, identifying legislation and technology trends and other market drivers to help product and technology related sales, develop product roadmaps and support sales to articulate customer value propositions
• Oversee and develop strategies to digitalise the marketing processes and platforms from its inception to ongoing continuous improvements.
• Work closely with the Director, Future Networks to develop effective marketing plans, communicate the plans and implement as approved by the Board of Lucy Group.

Product Marketing

• Evaluate the markets we serve to determine requirements to expand our revenues to include product/solution features, benefits, price, quality, product life cycle position and competitors’ products.
• Engage with Engineering and Innovation regarding product specifications and new product/solutions developments.
• Identify new markets for our products and the requirements to successfully sell to these markets.
• Work with sales and engineering to ensure the successful launch of new products, develop the value proposition for each new product that would define price, features, benefits and quality for the item to be successful.

Operational Marketing & Pricing

• Lead the global Lucy Electric marketing team, assuring continuous information of regional / local marketing activity and creating a marketing network via regular meeting
• Work with the Lucy Electric CEO and HR to ensure that the Marketing team and resources across Lucy Electric are highly motivated, effective and sufficient to deliver and enhance Lucy Electric’s marketing and communications strategy
• Proactively engage in relevant activities as part of the drive to Net Zero internally and externally.
• The setting of price levels by country and customer, analysis of realised price to identify margin leakage, supporting sales with pricing strategies for large tenders, pricing for value for new innovations or solutions.
• Manage marketing costs and budgets.

Communications – Internal & External

• Oversee marketing and communications including branding, public relations, advertising, trade shows, seminars and event collateral materials, analyst and market research management and web site design and ensure close collaboration with the Director, Future Networks and Lucy Group marketing team.
• Work closely with relevant stakeholders across Lucy Electric, Lucy Group and other Lucy businesses to develop and drive a highly effective and engaging internal and external communications strategy and process. This will include identifying and developing common themes and messages across the Group and wider Lucy businesses.
• Coordinate the execution of regular Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
• Create reports to provide information on key relevant markets or customers to key stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

The Marketing Director should have 10 or more years of senior leadership experience in marketing and sales management at international level, with a thorough knowledge of marketing principles, product or service management, sales and business development, digitalisation, and developing pricing strategies, along with a demonstrated track record of success and performance.

This senior leadership position requires the ability to understand changing market dynamics translating them into actionable strategies and implementing them to achieve pre-set objectives as determined by the marketing plan. You will have experience in managing budgets effectively across multiple departments, financial reporting, setting up effective metrics and business processes.
