Junior Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor

Location: Motherwell, Scotland

Reporting To: HSE Supervisor

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior HSE Advisor to join our team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing HSE professional to gain valuable hands-on experience implementing and maintaining environmental, health, and safety policies within a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain company HSE policies in line with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety legislation.
• Participate in the planning and development of facilities, work areas, and procedures to enhance HSE standards.
• Support the creation, maintenance, and review of HSE policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Assist in the management and upkeep of HSE systems and practices.
• Serve as a point of contact with external regulatory agencies and authorities.
• Stay up to date on changes in relevant legislation and advise the business accordingly.
• Work under direct supervision and follow pre-established guidelines and instructions.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a junior HSE role or relevant internship/work placement.
• Recognised HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) – essential.
• Strong understanding of industry regulations, standards, and practices.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative when required.
