The Floor Room
Job Introduction
The Role
Combining your love of interior décor and a devotion to delivering the standards of customer experience expected by John Lewis customers, as an In Home Consultant for the floor room, you’ll help their creative dreams become reality by visiting them in their own home and providing advice and guidance.
A typical day might look like this:
Ensuring that you, the samples and the liveried ‘the floor room’ van are impeccably presented and are replicating the in-store experience in the customer’s home.
Travelling to pre-booked appointments in various locations in a defined geographic area.
Providing helpful advice and guidance in a charming, engaging and relaxed way, whether that’s in the customer’s home, in store, online or via other communication channels.
Using your samples, product knowledge and expertise to help customers select the perfect product and services for their interior project, converting enquiries into sales.
Adapting your approach to offer a bespoke service and gain a detailed understanding of the customer’s project, tastes, and preferences – ultimately ensuring that all customers feel relaxed, delighted, and inspired.
Using your expertise and influence to demonstrate and explain options in line with the customer’s needs and guiding them seamlessly through the sales process.
Owning your customer’s end-to-end journey; applying attention to detail throughout and ensuring the customer has a smooth and seamless experience from all those involved in turning their creativity into reality.
Why work here
Whilst much of your work will be on your own, behind you, there’s a small team who share your love of interiors, delivering exceptional service and knowing all about what’s new and on trend.
Aside from a competitive salary, uncapped commission, a liveried van and a pension scheme, you’ll also get:
All the training and support you need to get you started
22 days holiday plus Bank Holidays & you can buy or sell up to 5 days with our holiday trading scheme
Plentiful opportunities to learn and grow
25% staff discount with the floor room and generous group discounts across our sister flooring companies
Wellbeing support (mental, physical & financial)
Access to a digital GP service
Access to discounts at more than 700 high street retailers
Life Assurance scheme
Health Cash Plan
Who you are
Charming, credible and uniquely you; it’s likely that you’ll have some previous customer service experience from a retail or premium environment or have worked in customer’s homes helping them to buy products and services. You’ll find it easy to create smile-worthy moments and have a natural curiosity conveyed in a conversational style. You’ll need a full UK driving licence and to be comfortable working autonomously. It would be even better if you:
Have a demonstrable love of interior design/textiles, home trends and styles
Enjoy working to sales targets and achieving goals
Are reasonably tech savvy – a working knowledge of standard Microsoft packages would be ideal
