The Berlin Brands Group (BBG) is an internationally operating e-commerce company in the direct-to-consumer sector. Since 2005, we are designing, producing, and selling products in the home & living, consumer electronics, sound & light and sports segment.
In 2020, we generated sales of €334 million, up from €216 million in 2019. Our products are sold across more than 100 channels including direct to consumer e-commerce, online marketplaces including Amazon, and wholesale to retailers and distributors. Our core brands are Klarstein (household appliances), Blumfeldt (garden and living), auna (audio equipment) and Capital Sports (home fitness).
These are just a few examples within our portfolio of over 44 consumer product brands. Since the end of 2020, we have been buying successful international e-commerce brands as a strategic investor, including many FBA brands (Fulfilment by Amazon).
We distribute over 3,700 products to consumers in 28 countries worldwide. BBG is now over 1,000 employees strong, working in locations spanning the globe – from Europe, UK, USA, to Asia. Our global headquarter is in Berlin, Germany and we are now rapidly expanding our business and presence in the United Kingdom.
BBG has exciting plans for the UK market and is investing in world-class logistics and fulfilment, innovative digital marketing, e-commerce, marketplace development and other sales channels. To fuel this growth, we are looking for talented and motivated colleagues like you to join us in shaping the DNA of BBG.
We are currently seeking a Head of People and Culture UK. This newly created and high impact role will be primarily based at our UK headquarters in Oxford, with flexible and hybrid office/home working options. Occasional travel both within the UK and internationally will be required.
Shaping and delivering our people strategy, our culture, and the way we operate our UK business
Adapting our approach to best fit the UK market and importing the culture and ways of working that make our business an incredibly special place to work
Ensuring we are highly competitive and recognised in the UK employment market as a fantastic employer and shaping our benefits and rewards programmes accordingly
Raising and positively impacting the profile of BBG UK to candidates at all stages of the recruitment funnel and process
Proactively developing the talent pipeline for our UK business
Build, lead, and motivate a high-performance people team as the operating requirements of our UK business grow
Ensuring that all UK employees have a positive employee experience
Coordinating with our global people function to share resources in order to achieve our recruitment and people management goals, and to ensure alignment with global people objectives, compliance, and reporting tasks
Ensuring an excellent pipeline of talent and candidates for open positions
Ensuring that our recruitment administration processes are run impeccably and communication is accurate and timely
Coordinating comprehensive and diligently executed onboarding programmes for all new starters in our UK business
Providing oversight and responsibility for people-related compliance matters
Identifying and implementing training, support, and coaching where appropriate
Providing clear visibility and analysis of employee satisfaction, turnover, and associated metrics to ensure our objectives are being met or exceeded
Managing our office and all the spaces in which our business operates in order to create a wonderful working environment
5+ years of experience in management with a focus on people strategy
Excellent understanding of UK employment laws and compliance obligations
You are a confident, moral, trustworthy, and reliable individual of integrity
You have high attention to detail and are able to quickly digest data, situations, challenges, or opportunities to arrive at the most important information
You are highly organised and precise in your execution
You are highly driven, able to think dynamically and entrepreneurially to solve challenges even when under pressure or dealing with unexpected or unpredictable circumstances
