Role: 6-month contract
We are seeking a dynamic Events & Community Engagement Manager (FTC) to join our Workplace Experience Team at our client’s London Headquarters. Initially, this role will work closely with our existing Events & Community Engagement Manager to implement strategies and event planning in the run up to her maternity leave starting in February, 2024. Following that, this role will lead on the delivery of the 2024 EMEA Events &Community Engagement Programme, reporting into the Workplace Experience Manager EMEA.
As the Events & Community Engagement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the planning, organizing, and execution of internal events for our client’s corporate offices across EMEA. You will also build an engaging programme of communications to promote activations, and build a sense of community among Amex colleagues. This role will cater to approximately 2,000 colleagues across EMEA, and will focus on creating engaging and memorable experiences and communications that foster a positive and inclusive work environment, and which drives employee retention and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Strategy Implementation:
Implement event and community engagement strategies across all EMEA locations; this means creating frameworks and guidelines for event planning, execution and evaluation, which local markets can use to deliver a best-in-class Events & Community Engagement Programme in their local market.
Understand and layer into the strategy event & community engagement requirements and objectives at each EMEA location, as these vary based on office size and resources available.
Contribute to the creation of event & community engagement concepts, themes, and agendas that align with client’s culture and values.
Event Coordination and Execution:
Support end-to-end event logistics, including venue selection, budget management, vendor coordination, and contract negotiations for all EMEA events and community engagement initiatives. Majority of the granular details are managed by local resource, but having a keen eye for detail and a willing ness to support and guide is essential for delivery consistently high-quality activations.
Where geographically possible, contribute to event setup, including stage design, audiovisual equipment, seating arrangements, and signage.
Coordinate closely with internal departments and external suppliers for seamless event execution; think health & safety teams, internal communications teams, and in-house catering partners, to name a few.
Event Marketing and Communication:
Take the lead on developing event marketing materials and promotional campaigns across the entire EMEA region, ensuring they are designed within Amex brand guidelines.
Lead the strategy for communication of event details through the various available channels (Slack, digital screens, email, poster sites etc).
Support event registration and RSVP process, building best practice guidelines for guest management across all markets.
Budget Management:
Own EMEA event and community engagement budget, tracking expenses and cost-saving opportunities.
Contribute to post-event financial analysis and budget performance reporting in partnership with local EMEA colleagues.
Additional Responsibilities:
Responsibility for on-site operations in the absence of London site leadership.
Support on-site resourcing and participate in conducting interviews for available roles.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards.
Attend team meetings and participate in reporting activities.

Complete at a satisfactory level all required and assigned HSE training.
Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE related requirements at all times.
Participate in all HSE related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment, etc.
About You:
Person profile:
We are looking for someone who has relevant experience in event production, but crucially we require someone who is:
A genuinely good communicator, and a brilliant influencer – sideways, upwards and downwards
Adept at rolling out and gate-keeping processes across a diverse team
Comfortable working across European markets; quick to build rapport and happy delegating from a distance
This is a strategic role which is highly creative, but also centered around the coordination of team members across multiple markets to deliver excellent events and activations to a very high and consistent standard.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of event production experience.
At least 2 years’ experience managing diverse team members directly or indirectly.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Demonstrated success in collaborating with stakeholders across complex organisations.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with graphic design tools is a huge bonus, and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
