Director of Business Development
London or Bristol with very flexible working from home
100k -130k depending upon experience +shares, bonus, private medical, pension and 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
A rapidly growing underwriting agency combining world leaders in (re)insurance underwriting and artificial intelligence-based simulation modelling. They underwrite cyber reinsurance contracts and are building cyber insurance products that will be distributed globally.
They are seeking a Director of Business Development for their London or Bristol Offices.
Traditionally, cyber insurance is sold to SME’s and enterprises through insurance brokers, and often in these cases the exchange of technical information is insufficient to guarantee a properly priced contract. Increasingly cyber insurance will be sold through cyber security firms and cloud platforms through digital experiences. The company is building these platforms, sometimes referred to as “embedded insurance,” that enable technology firms to integrate cyber insurance products into their offerings.
The Director of Business Development will lead the company’s efforts globally to build relationships with global technology enterprises to launch these products. Target partners include MSPs (Manage Service Providers) and MSSPs (Managed Service Security Providers; cyber security product firms; global payment providers; digital wallets; or cloud service providers. The role will be based in London and have a focus on the UK, EU, and US, and will be supported by efforts in the US.
The ideal candidate has experience building relationships with large global brands and closing deals with Big Firms, as well as facilitating the delivery of complex solutions that combine automation, machine learning, and regulated financial products.

Responsibilities for Director of Business Development
*Research and identify partnership opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets
*Maintain situational awareness of the competitive landscape
*Identify or network to target the appropriate contact in an organisation
*Generate leads with prospective customers and partners
*Prepare and customize sales and marketing materials to facilitate discussions and negotiations with prospective partners
*Relationship building with customers/clients face to face or over the phone
*Maintain a pipeline database of contacts and ongoing discussions for internal reporting and management
*Carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings to senior management/the board of directors
*Work with underwriting, modelling, software, legal, and finance teams on solution development for each potential customer / partner
*Assist in negotiations and contracting
*Assist in ongoing maintenance of existing accounts
*Coordinate with marketing teams to optimize corporate marketing strategy for success in this area
Qualifications for Director of Business Development
*Minimum 10 years of experience in one or a combination of related fields, including artificial intelligence, insurance, FinTech, or cyber security
*Experience either both BD / sales roles, demonstrating an ability to close high value enterprise contracts in the region of 500k – 5million
*Excellent verbal and written communication; additional languages beyond English high valued
*Proven ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and customers.
*Experience from a scaling start-up a plus.
