Compliance Engineer
To ensure that the product range within private label complies with all relevant legislative obligations relating to the articles that are offered for sale. To investigate, escalate and manage risk of compliance changes to our range and to ensure that expected quality levels are met for all private label products
Key Accountabilities
Conduct evaluation of Private Label and other relevant articles to ensure products are “safe” and comply with relevant aspects of Product, Trade and Transport Compliance for the applicable markets
Provide support to the commercial function on aspects of Product, Trade and Transport Compliance for existing and prospective RS PRO articles
Monitor and assess the potential impact of forthcoming product and other related legislative requirements that may impact the business and sales process
Provide support for the development and delivery of training in relevant areas of Compliance to appropriate audience.
Support achievement of the commercial KPIs by adoption and driving of continuous improvement within the Compliance function.
Provide support for investigations, ad-hoc testing and evaluation services to the business where required.
Liaise with external agencies and 3rd party test houses where additional engineering or compliance services are required
A centre of excellence for compliance, product evaluation and engineering. Share knowledge and facilities where appropriate.
Provide Technical Support to Product and Supplier Management, Sales and Marketing Teams
Essential
Excellent product technical / engineering knowledge & experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
Good working knowledge of issues relating to international trade compliance
Extensive and relevant experience in a similar role
Able to communicate confidently and effectively with various stakeholder groups in the business, both in writing and verbally
Ability to build relationships and work with Stakeholders across the business
Ability to prioritize and take a risk-based approach.
Ability to distil large amounts of information and present a case in a clear way.
Demonstrate the ability to challenge, identify risks and issues, and facilitate development of practical options
Knowledge of how current Global processes and systems impact – both positively and negatively – the customer experience.
Experience of embedding compliance across a multi-national business organization.
Personal resilience, confidence and willingness to challenge on all areas of the business, on management of compliance risks and processes.
Exposure to, identification of, and implementation of external best practice
Desirable
Good awareness of product liability issues.
Experience in liaising with enforcement authorities, test houses and external consultancies.
Proactive individual, confident to be able, when appropriate, to challenge colleagues at all levels within the organisation.
Knowledge of our external market place (customers, competitors & suppliers)
Experience of working in a global business
Experience of managing a multi-national corporation’s compliance function
