About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive 3rd Line Network Engineer to join an MSP client who are growing their IT infrastructure team.

This is a fully remote position, ideal for a self-motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering robust and secure network solutions.

As a 3rd Line Engineer, you will be the escalation point for complex network issues, playing a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our clients’ network infrastructure. Experience with Fortigate Firewalls is essential you will be expected to configure, manage, and troubleshoot Fortinet solutions with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the final point of escalation for network-related incidents and problems.
• Design, implement, and support secure network solutions across multiple environments.
• Configure and maintain Fortigate Firewalls (FortiOS), including VPNs, policies, and UTM features.
• Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Participate in on-call support rota to provide 24/7 coverage for critical issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues.
• Document network configurations, changes, and procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience with Fortigate Firewalls (FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer a plus).
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).
• Experience with enterprise switching and routing (Cisco, HP, or similar).
• VMware / Hyper-V
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix).
• Modern Workplace environments Windows 10/11
• Windows Server 2016 onwards
• Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is advantageous.
• ITIL
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong documentation and communication abilities.

Desirable Certifications

• Fortinet NSE 4 or higher (strongly preferred)
• Cisco CCNP or equivalent
• CompTIA Network+ or Security+

This is a fully remote role but candidates must be based in the UK.

Preference will be for candidates based in Bristol or surrounding areas.
